The Centre
Claremont Park Community Centre is a former branch library in Blackpool, North West England.
Re-opened as a Community Centre on 26th November 2004 by the local Ward Councillors Ivan and Sylvia Taylor, it now attracts over 2,000 people every month who take part in a variety of activities, events and projects including arts and crafts, martial arts, youth clubs, community arts projects, Over 60’s clubs, childcare, dance and drama and photography.
The Centre is run by a voluntary Management Committee with support from local residents and neighbours and has good partnerships throughout the community including the local churches, the local primary school and family centre, the local medical centre and other community centres. Ivan and Sylvia Taylor, who opened the Centre in 2004, still sit and are very active on the committee.
Claremont First Step Community Centre provides facilities and activities available to all, which contribute to the growth and enhancement of Blackpool.
